Hand Lettered Apples, A Punch of Pink and I- I took the Road Less Traveled By.
This week was pretty exciting. I lettered fruit for the first time (which was a blast, just trust me) and went to my first meeting of The Rising Tide Society. (The RTS, if you're not familiar, is a fantastic and supportive group of creatives.) Plus a couple other things I have to keep under my hat for a bit but can't wait to share!
Anyhow, at the meeting I met Molly, a super fun photographer who wanted an inspirational quote lettered for a friend. She gave me a few to choose from and told me to "just go with it." Sometimes that frightens me because I like the comfort of direction, but her open personality and laid back vibe spoke to me and I... well I just went with it.
First, here are the apples. More (exciting stuff) on these later...
Pretty cute, right? Just don't eat them. Even non-toxic paint, I used Kuretake's Wink of Luna in Gold, tastes bad (I would assume).
"You have extraordinary treasures hidden inside you." Elizabeth Gilbert, Big Magic. I had a lot of fun with this custom 8x10, in a shades of grey, electric pink and shimmering metallic gold.
Plus, this week I lettered the longest piece I've done yet. "The Road Not Taken" by Robert Frost. Beautiful words treated as such in forest green watercolor calligraphy.
Next week: Watercolor table calligraphy for a lovely yellow and Cadbury purple English wedding, Valentine's Day calligraphy for a friend AND my Epson V600 scanner is scheduled to arrive. I'm extremely excited for that. I have major plans for her.
See you then!
