I don't claim to be an expert on any topic, but I get asked a lot of calligraphy related questions from fellow artists as well as curious members of the general public and truthfully I am always honored to have my brain picked. I'm always researching, maybe it's my background in working in the library, but 9 times out of 10 the book I'm reading is non-fiction. Teaching and learning appeal to me as much as creating; so with that in mind I'm pleased to launch my labor of love - Ask Bernadette.
Ask Bernadette will be a video question and answer series I'll share on YouTube and here on my blog. I'll cover topics ranging from calligraphy and hand lettering to working in the wedding industry, running an Etsy shop from home as a full time mom, behind the scenes tips and tricks... All the wonderful things I've learned along the way either on my own or with help from another friendly creative.
How can you get involved?
If you have a question post it here in the comments or email it to me at email@example.com
Or you can ask a question on twitter (@hey_bernadette) and hashtag it #askbernadette.
If you'd like to be updated when videos are posted sign up for my newsletter - link is on the right.
What topics are fair game?
Anything relevant to my work, including calligraphy, watercolor, brush lettering, selecting the right papers and materials, my favorite tools, working with brides and weddings, collaborating with other creators, etc.
Setting up and running an Etsy shop and website.
The "behind the scenes" stuff like product photography, using Instagram, and networking.
And whatever else you might like to ask me, so long as it's not super strange or crazy personal. Don't get weird on me, guys. ;)
Will this be live?
No, gosh no. :) Maybe someday in the future, but for now these will be prerecorded. This will allow me to use a higher quality camera, do a bit of research if I need to and gather my thoughts before I record (Live Q&A's leave no time for this.) and edit the video to give you the best possible quality content.
Eventually I'd like to branch this out into a more collaborative venture, so if you're a fellow small business or a fellow creative and you've got an idea for me I'm always looking for ways to connect! Don't be shy, send me a message! :)
Thank you so much!
