1970's Vintage Rock & Roll Elopement

Guys, this shoot was FUN! I was contacted by Rachel Lynn Photography to create a "vintage rock and roll" themed wedding suite for her upcoming shoot. She wanted hand lettered, textural wedding invitations with lots of juicy reds, lush burgundies, rich golds, all the goods stuff! I jumped at it! I mean, wouldn't you? Just look!

(Oh and psst! This shoot was featured on Green Wedding Shoes!)

Okay I'm starting with a photo of the invitations I created for this one. Not to toot my own horn, but this is seriously one of my personal favorites. The invitation isn't your standard 5x7 flat invitation, no sir. I went all out here and created a record album out of paper complete with marbled "record" and illustrated butterfly cover. I love how it turned out!
Okay on to the rest of the shoot!

I mean look at these two. Our models here just knock my socks off. And the styling is superb! I can almost hear Eric Clapton singing in the background.

I wasn't kidding about the styling.

I really went for it here with layers of textural colors, mattes and metallics. Our photographer did a fabulous job catching the contrasts on these - which isn't easy to do with paper and paint!

I love when my papers are used in fun and unexpected ways in the photography. These gorgeous organic rings by The Fox and Stone are sitting pretty on a bit of calligraphy! So exciting!

And I'll finish up this one with a bit of dessert! The textures here are rocking my world, pun intended! Gorgeous job, Sweet Gems Bakery!

Celestial Wedding Invitations for Love Wins Texas Magazine

When Casie Fischer of Thistle Wynd Productions contacted me to create a celestial themed invitation suite to be used in a shoot for Love Wins Texas Weddings Magazine I was thrilled! This was my second time creating an invitation suite for the magazine, but my first time partnering with Thistle Wynd. For so many reasons I was glad to be brought in on this one, not the least of which being the chance to work with Casie - something I now do as often as I can! The woman has serious style! Just look at this shoot!

Real-life engaged couple Brit & Zach served as our models for the shoot.

A full suite was created for this shoot. Watercolor washes provided a night sky feel, with a bit of star mapping on the invitations and the envelope calligraphy to add a touch of the unexpected. I think the details are what really bring an ensemble together, don't you?

celestial zodiac themed wedding table

This elegantly draped sequin table cloth just slays me. This setting is the height of romance.

The tablescapes were moody stunners. And the cake by Walton's Fancy & Staple of Austin, Texas, was a hand painted masterpiece. Have you ever seen a cake so elegant? Love the little golden ox and ram on the top, which represent the groom's zodiac signs. So clever!

To me Casie's work shines with her use of clever, unexpected details.

The menus for Zach and Brit's wedding dinner were entirely hand lettered. No fonts here, just brush lettering! Is it obsessive? I'd just say I'm keen.

The biggest danger in hand lettering is getting the hungries from writing out delicious meals!

And congratulations to Zach and Brit who were married a short time after this shoot!
